I’ve said sorry so many times…

Good Evening to you.

Welcome to day 17 of my 31 day blog challenge!

Let’s get into today’s post. 🤗

Hearing the same explanation over and over again to a mistake you made, can be very exhausting.

That persons’ voice is a constant reminder of what you buried years ago but they have this habit of digging it up and flashing it before you – causing you to always revisiting it.

Some people just don’t know how to move on or let go. But in some cases, I also think it’s a twisted power thing. When they see your reaction and how it rubs you up the wrong way, they feel empowered. They feel in control.

This thing that they hold against you, gives them a sense of entitlement, they feel qualified to continually judge and critique, chipping away with their hammer and making you to feel guilty over and over again.

In this case, it’s nothing to do with you. They have a deeper rooted problem which only can be fixed once they have recognised and accepted they need help.

But, i’ve said sorry so much times…

Sorry means that you have acknowledged your fault and you want all parties involved to know that, with the expectation of it not being repeated.

Now, the one who you apologised to, (given it was genuine) ought to receive it, process it and accept it. The process of acceptance can vary dependant on the offence. However, if that person really wants to forgive and move on, they will not continue to hang it over your head.

Unfortunately, this is a reality for many, if this is something you are facing, you need to change your approach because saying sorry for the 10th time won’t change anything.

Have a conversation and find out why they keep on bringing up the past. Find out if they have truly accepted your apology. Get to the root of it. That’s the only way you can know for certain what the underlying issues are.

You have said sorry and meant it, have the conversation but it’s time to move on.

I will be back tomorrow with another blog. Catch up here if you missed yesterday’s post. ✌🏽
