Word Party

Hello You!

Thank you for clicking the link, I hope you find this post a good read and it adds value to your day!

It’s that time again and I wanted to share something I have observed, a very precious part of me and my life. Come away with me and ‘Party’ along to the ‘words’ in this short piece.

… My daughter is just over 8months now and has quiet a personality – She is playful, very attentive to detail and loves to take off her daddys’ glasses for her own amusement – lol 😊! She has taken over the home as her toys invade the living room, not too mention, her firm grip on the remote!

She has often taken me into her world to see things from her view point, I must say it’s very interesting! Her favorite show by far is called ‘Word Party’ ( its a Netflix original and it’s always on  repeat 👀) – the children’s show is about vocabulary, discovering and learning new words as well as their meaning. Once a new word has been taught and understood, the characters in the show have a ‘Word Party’ to celebrate.

As I was watching the show with my daughter, and saw how excited she would become, I suddenly had a thought.

Why do grown ups slow down or completely stop learning? Why do we prefer to ‘manage’ what we have as opposed to adding to it? Why do we limit ourselves with what we learnt or was taught 5 years ago and depend on that information, hoping it will be enough?

The world is changing along with it’s conventional methods.. when we feel as though we can’t solve a potential case, we are the first ones to complain and throw our arms in the air about something that has become a frustration; when it is very likely we are the very same individuals who can do something about it. How ironic. I feel as though many people including you, yes you Mr / Miss Reader are limiting yourself to what you have decided to accept and live by… closing the door to opportunity.

I often hear people say, ‘I don’t know what I’m good at’ or ‘ I’m done with education’ so on and so forth. But the truth is you haven’t really given yourself the chance to learn; the chance to develop, the chance to grow. It is said that knowledge is power, but knowledge only becomes power when one understands it and is able to break it down and put to use.

Ever thought of reading a new book? Listening to a new youtube motivator? Learning a new skill? Perhaps how to negotiate ( oh, I would love to top up in this area!) Enrolling on a exciting new course? Understanding why something works the way it does? Visiting a museum or perhaps sightseeing?

Albert Einstein puts it this way ‘Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learnt in school’

I know you want to do more and become a better version of yourself, offer support to someone who needs it or leave something tangible behind for your children -Education will fuel that. Why not learn something new from  today and have a Word Party afterward to celebrate!
