Angel, why did you take a break from Social Media? πŸ˜©πŸ™ˆπŸ‘‹πŸ½πŸ™‚

Hey y’all! 😊

It’s been ages! πŸ™ˆ I know, I haven’t blogged in a very long time. I’m sorry. I was very busy with family life, church life (and a long list of other stuff…..) oh and also creating content for my YouTube Channel, which is also called Away with Angel! Here is the direct link, go ahead and subscribe! www.youtube.com/c/awaywithangel

You know when you have a plan in your head but it doesn’t always look the same on paper… it was one of those ones (covers face). I wanted to do so many things and really go for it but it got slighty overwhelming and I didn’t have time to blog. This is me basically saying sorry. I won’t neglect my blog page again. Promise.😊

Ok, so moving on, as my title suggests, this post is about… my temporal break-up with social media. 🀳🏾

I made the below post on my Facebook and Insta page on the 31st May 2018. I thought it wise to let you know incase I was contacted and there would have been no response. (Sorry if you thought I was ignoring you), I honestly just wanted a month away from socials, a detox and social cleanse!

Many people were asking me why I came of socials, well, here is why: – The truth is, I just wanted a break, away from the likes, the comments and updates, the retweets, the shares… etc. There is nothing wrong with social media, I love it but when you go for your phone to check them as soon as you open your eyes in the morning, and you realise that the insta, snapchat and twitter accounts are slowly becoming ( I should actually say quickly becoming) a kind of small god, then there is a problem. It’s idolatry!

It’s really easy to become a Twitter, Youtube or Facebook Christian, posting and tweeting about God, preaching on socials and subsequently receiving the retweets and shares from your post for your own selfish gratification, feeling special and important… for all for the wrong reasons! There are many who are trapped in this bubble, and it’s very dangerous. It’s really deceptive! Nothing worse than being far from your words. So, it’s time to come back home, to re-evaluate and ask the Lord for forgiveness! The big question is, do you know Jesus for yourself? I’m not taking about tweeting or talking about him, but do you know him on a personal level?!

I guess I wanted to know more, to encounter Jesus again for myself, with nothing to distract me. Listen, Jesus the Christ is real. Heaven is real and so is Hell. They are real geographical locations!!! People have been there, and those who have had near death experiences or visions etc have lived to tell of what they saw. Don’t believe me? Youtube it! In fact, I will do it for you, if you’re interested, here is a Youtube link. A video I watched a few weeks back, a guy was pronounced dead but yet lived and here is his story. So powerful.

Well, without going into detail, I’m glad I did it. πŸ’– God is love, he is so beautiful and his presence is so tangible, so gentle, so comforting. It’s like, you just know everything will be OK because the creator of the universe is your father. How amazing is that?! It’s not enough to say “Lord, Lord” or identify yourself as christian. God wants a deeper connection, a real relationship.

I am refreshed, recharged and redirected! I now know what matters and what doesn’t and have made that decision to focus on the former.

I challenge you to take time off anything you have given too much time to and decide to seek God for yourself. πŸ™πŸ½ Gain control of your life and your mind. Whatever you give power or control over to will have authority over you. Take it back and don’t feel sorry about it! Don’t lose FOCUS!

I hope your enjoyed this blog, been too long but I will write again very soon!

Leave a star! ⭐️

Until next time! πŸ¦‹ #awaywithangel

  1. Bless you for this inspiring blog. It actually makes so much sense. We prioritise certain things without knowing which ends up to be in idolatry form. May God have mercy on us as we deprive ourselves from these things so we seek him consistently.
