Good Evening to you!
Welcome to day 12 of my 31 day blog challenge! It’s been an honour writing to and for you, I hope my posts have been thought provoking and caused you to reflect.
Let’s do this together.
Every individual, couple and family faces challenges. It’s not only an Asian dilemma, African dilemma or European dilemma. This is universal. Challenges have a funny way of creeping up on you when you’re least expecting it and throwing you off course.
Sometimes one is prepared, other times, there was never a ‘plan b’.
What is the first thing you do when a problem arises? Who is the first person you talk to?
My mum always would say,
Never hang your dirty linen outside for everyone to see.
I feel as though our generation has lost the ability to communicate. To talk things out. To make decisions without involving The Prime Minster, the next door neighbour and the annoying black cat that can’t seem to stay in it’s drive way.
Everyone must know what you and your household are facing.
As much as you may feel that posting a novel about the argument between you and your husband (which transpired at the post office) is a kind of release, all that does is create more problems for you. Now, it’s not only your household attempting to deal with it but you have the haters gossiping, the strangers laughing, the magazines publishing a story, your family / partner angry and frustrated with you and God completely out of the picture!
Keep your dirty linen in the washing machine!
Gather the problems together with your spouse / family, separate the dirty white issues from the smelly colours and put them in the washing machine of conversation, prayer and a plan to move forward.
Everyone is going through something. But you need to keep your stuff in the washing machine. Build a relationship with your partner and family members and learn how to tackle problems head on. Running away from them by broadcasting them, does not eliminate it, it only illuminates it.
Let’s go back to what people used to do before social media’s – talk.
But.
Add prayer.
There are somethings which are completely beyond you. Issues that baffle the mind and circumstances which have no logical explanation. Prayer is the answer.
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Scripture encourages us to pray about it. Include the maker of the heavens and the earth in your decision making. After all, HE knows how it will end.
Keep the issue between yourselves and the Lord, if you require a 3rd person to assist, agree first before you bring them in.
But please keep your dirty linen in the washing machine.
If you enjoyed it, please leave a 🌟 or a comment. Catch up here if you missed yesterday’s post. See you tomorrow for another one. ✌🏽
