For Better | For Worst

Welcome to Series 1, Blog Post 2 (BP2).

Thank you for your personal messages and comments on our 1st post of the series! I am super encouraged and really happy that you caught what I was trying to communicate. If you missed it, catch up here 🤗

Let’s get into this one together.

Story time. When I was a little girl, I had a wild imagination. Here is a memory that makes me giggle. I would pretend that I was trapped on a small deserted island, surrounded by sharks. I would jump from rock to rock, dodging and ducking killer fish, as I crossed the big scary ocean to the neighbouring island. The funny thing is, I always crossed over safely because it was my game and I knew how it ended. Although the ferocious sharks almost got me, I was in control, I knew that I would make it.

When we become adults, our childlike determination and ambitions ideas seem to crumble away. Why is that? There are still scary oceans to cross and sharks to dodge right?

This is what I would like to communicate to you: dreaming it vs working toward it are oceans apart and there are so many sharks in-between.

When you conceive something in your heart and desire to fulfil your vision, you find that it completely overwhelms and sparks a passion within. It’s all you talk and think about. You perceive that it’s what you were created for and you must accomplish it whatever it takes. Purpose has located you.

But I need you to understand that there will be obstacles in the way. Individuals closest to you will discourage you. You may not have the funding available to support your project or the connections you think is needed to recommend you. The grades they said were not good enough or lack of family belief / support in your dreams. The list is endless… There are always sharks in the ocean but you must learn how to survive despite the adversity.

It’s not always going to be roses and butterflies, challenging times will surface and for that reason, considering giving up may become an option.

…for better, for worst…

Challenges come to test authenticity. They come by like a strong wind waiting for an opening to blow you and your vision apart. They follow behind like a school bully to provoke you into abandoning your goals. They patiently wait for the opportunity to say “I told you so”.

Let’s keep it 💯, somebody is holding their breath, waiting for you to fail, unfortunately for them, they will suffocate. 😏

It’s not because of the sharks that stop us from crossing the ocean, on the contrary, it’s the beauty of what’s on the other side, that in-spite of the sharks, causes us to confidently sail across. I want to encourage you to keep on moving regardless of the tide. Life will not always be smooth sailing nor will you always have the support to help you get there. But one thing is certain, if you put your trust in God, he will strengthen and give you the grace to keep it moving.

It’s for better or worst honey, so you must not give up! Stay on course and keep on sailing. The waves may hit the ship and winds may blow against you but stay focused, the sun kissed sandy shore, cool breeze and beautiful sunset awaits you. The other side is where your goals, ambitions and dreams come to past. The other side is where you enjoy the fruit of your labour. The other side is where purpose is fulfilled.

Stay focused.

Keep it moving.

You’re closer to fulfilling your dreams than you think.
